Practice Posing Guide
I strongly believe that client comfort should come first. That is why I am always providing a judgment free space.
№1 — What should I do with my hands?
✅ Frame your face
Posing with your hands in front of your face adds another interesting aspect. Framing your face and improving composition can be accomplished by playing with your hair or stroking a cheek.
№2 — How should I sit?
✅ Lean back & forward
A simple chair pose with a straight back rarely produces an interesting or appealing image. The two most flattering sitting stances for models are leaning forward and leaning back.
№3 — How to pose as a plus size?
✅ Stand at an angle
Instead of standing with your face directly in front of the camera, turn your hips and shoulders slightly away from it. Standing with your back straight, shoulders down, and chest out.
№4 — How to look my best?
✅ Avoid hunching
Nice posture is essential to appearing good in images, whether you’re standing up or sitting down, taking a full-body portrait or a head shot.
№5 — How to pose like a pro?
✅ Practise your poses
For a beginner model, it is good to always remember to relax your body and keep your poses moving and alive to give them depth and vibrancy. Keep your limbs at a slight angle instead of standing straight to avoid looking rigid.
Your tasks:
(before the shoot)
(1) Using your phone camera, take 1-2 pictures in each of the poses shown in the images above.
(2) Then — take a look back at your pictures. and find 3-5 poses you like the look of the most.
(3) Then — go back to your camera, and take some more practice pics with those ones again. You’ll get to the shoot, ready to go!
